Austrian Shades
Austrian shades are a type of window treatment that features soft, gathered folds of fabric that form a series of scallops or “balloons” when raised. These shades are typically made from lightweight fabrics such as linen, cotton, or silk, and are often used to add a touch of elegance and sophistication to a room.
Austrian shades are similar in appearance to Roman shades, but they are constructed differently. While Roman shades are made with evenly spaced horizontal folds, Austrian shades have vertical gathers that create a more elaborate, dramatic look.
Austrian shades are usually mounted inside the window frame, and can be operated with a cord or a motorized system to adjust the height of the shade. All Austrian Shades are handcrafted in our own New York facility.
Here are some benefits to using Austrian Shades:
- Style and Elegance: Dramatic doesn’t even begin to describe the look and feel of these luxurious window treatments. Austrian shades evoke a regal and royal feel; they are the perfect fit for a detail-oriented room
- Functionality: Delicately shirred Austrian shades can be maneuvered for maximum privacy and light control
